Public Meeting Notice Borough of Mount Penn The Mount Penn Borough Council will hold a Public Hearing on September 2, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM at the Antietam High School Auditorium at 201 N. 25th Street, Reading, PA 19606, for the purpose of considering the incorporation of a Municipal Authority.

Notice is hereby given that the Mount Penn Borough Council will hold a Business Meeting on September 2, 2026. The meeting shall be held at the Antietam High School Auditorium at 201 N. 25th Street, Reading, PA 19606, beginning immediately after the public hearing on the same night.

The Borough Council shall consider An Ordinance of the Borough Council of the Borough Of Mount Penn, Berks County, Pennsylvania, Signifying Its Intention to Organize a Municipal Authority under Chapter 56 of Title 53 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes (53 Pa.C.S. §§ 5601–5623), known as the Municipality Authorities Act, and conduct any other business.

The Antietam Valley Municipal Authority (AVMA) is a joint municipal authority created by the Borough of Mount Penn and Lower Alsace Township, for the purposes of owning and maintaining the sewer (or wastewater) collection and conveyance system, the pump station and the wastewater treatment plant.

These facilities are operated and maintained since 1982 by the Authority.

AVMA provides service to 3,863 sewer connections in Mt. Penn Borough, a portion of Exeter Township, St. Lawrence Borough and the City of Reading.
